چکیده

This paper proposes a moment based encoding algorithm for iterated function system (IFS) coding of nonhomogeneous fractal images with unequal probabilities. Moment based encoding algorithms for IFS coding of non-homogeneous fractal images require a solution of simultaneous algebraic equations that are difficult to handle with numerical root-finding methods. The proposed algorithm employs a variable elimination method using Gröbner bases with floating-point coefficients in order to derive a numerically solvable equation with a single unknown. The algorithm also employs a varying associatedprobabilities method for the purpose of decreasing the computational complexity of calculating Gröbner bases. Experimental results show that the average computation time for encoding a non-homogeneous fractal image of 256× 256 pixels and 256 gray levels is about 200 seconds on a PC with a 400MHz AMD K6-III processor. key words: image coding, fractal, iterated function system, inverse problem, Gröbner basis

Ifs Coding of High Order Non-homogeneous Fractal Images

This paper proposes a moment based encoding algorithm for iterated function system (IFS) coding of high order nonhomogeneous fractal images. The proposed algorithm employs a quasi-Newton method combined with a multi-start steepest descent technique in order to solve the simultaneous algebraic equations for IFS codes. Experimental results show that the average computational time for encoding the...

Difference based Non-Linear Fractals using IFS

Fractals are self-similar images. There are many techniques for generating fractals. IFS are one of them. IFS use a set of linear transformations for generation of fractals. We propose a method of modifying IFS such that non-linear transformations can be used for generating pleasant looking fractals. We also show a technique which ensures convergence of the fractal Images. Non-linear fractals h...

Fractal Compression of Images with Projected Ifs

Standard fractal image compression, proposed by Jacquin[1], is based on IFS (Iterated Function Systems) defined in R. This modelization implies restrictions in the set of images being able to be compressed. These images have to be self similar in R. We propose a new model, the projected IFS, to approximate and code grey level images. This model has the ability to define affine IFS in a high dim...

Mathematical framework to show the existence of attractor of partitioned iterative function systems

The technique of image compression using Iterative Function System (IFS) is known as fractal image compression. An extension of IFS theory is Partitioned or local Iterative Function System (PIFS) for coding the gray level images. Several techniques of PIFS based image compression have already been proposed by many researchers. The theory of PIFS appears to be different from the theory of IFS in...

Two- and Three-Dimensional Coding Schemes for Wavelet and Fractal-Wavelet Image Compression

This thesis presents two novel coding schemes and applications to both twoand three-dimensional image compression. Image compression can be viewed as methods of functional approximation under a constraint on the amount of information allowable in specifying the approximation. Two methods of approximating functions are discussed: Iterated function systems (IFS) and wavelet-based approximations. ...
